The biggest shortcut is to use thick Greek yogurt and really squeeze the cucumber well. The dip will then hold its shape and won’t become watery even after sitting on the table for a while. If you prepare it in advance, stir the cucumber in just before serving, or squeeze it separately and store it separately.

Variants and alternatives
Instead of dill, use chopped mint or flat-leaf parsley. For a milder taste, use only half a clove of garlic or grate it and briefly mix it with lemon juice. For a spicier version, add a pinch of chili flakes or a bit of freshly ground pepper. You can thin the dip with a tablespoon of cold water and use it as a light salad dressing.
