If you want the muffins truly “sugar-free,” watch the ingredients of your sweetener and vanilla sugar – ideally use vanilla extract and a low-cal sweetener like erythritol or xylitol. Adjust sweetness based on the bananas: when very ripe (speckled), you often don’t need to add much at all. And if you want the muffins more like a dessert, feel free to add a few pieces of dark chocolate on top – you’ll still be far from classic sugary muffins.

Variants and alternatives
Choco protein version: stir 1–2 tablespoons of chocolate protein powder into the batter and add a little milk if needed so the batter isn’t too thick. You’ll add protein and the flavor will shift toward a “fit brownie muffin.”
