The biggest shortcut is to use a cold-setting gelatin stabilizer. The cream doesn’t need cooking and the bars are easier to cut after chilling. Dip ladyfingers only briefly—just plunge and pull them out quickly, otherwise they will soak and fall apart in the pan.
