The biggest shortcut is to make the dough first and during the short rest prepare the garlic butter and heat the skillet. The skillet must be very hot, otherwise the naan will dry out rather than char. If you make the flatbreads ahead, reheat briefly in a dry skillet or wrapped in foil in the oven.

Variants and alternatives
No garlic: brush the flatbreads with butter and sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Spicier version: add a pinch of chili flakes to the butter. With yogurt dip: serve with plain yogurt mixed with salt, lemon, and chopped mint. For dry storage: cook the flatbreads without butter, let cool and store in a bag. Reheat before serving and only then brush with butter.
