The biggest time-saver is to cut the vegetables into very small cubes or use pre-peeled pumpkin from the freezer. You can divide the cooked purée into small portions; serve one immediately and, after quickly cooling the rest, store it in the refrigerator for the next day.

Variants and alternatives
For a thinner purée, add more cooking water, breast milk, or prepared infant formula after cooking. Instead of hokkaido pumpkin, use butternut squash, which has a milder flavor and purees well. For an older child, you can add a small amount of cooked chicken or turkey to the finished purée if they have already been introduced to meat.
